BNP’s Comilla South District unit Organising Secretary Mostaq Mia announced the general strike on Tuesday evening.

Police filed three cases -- one in Chauddagram under Comilla and two in Dhaka -- accusing the BNP chief Khaleda, who called the nationwide transport blockade earlier this month, over arson attacks on vehicles.

Mostaq Mia told bdnews24.com: “(Khaleda) has been booked in the case as the 'Hukumer Asami' (someone responsible for instigation and conspiracy) over torching of a covered van at Chouddagram.”
