In a message to Alexis Tsipras, Hasina said she looked forward to working with him as he assumed the office of the prime minister.
Tsipras’ victory had been viewed as stunning by media as Syriza is the first anti-austerity party to govern in Europe.
Hasina wrote she was confident that his “dynamic leadership would achieve the desired goals for the people of your great country”.
She also hoped that the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Greece would “further widen and deepen” during his tenure.
“The potentials of bilateral engagements would be materialized to the mutual benefit of the friendly peoples of Bangladesh and Greece,” she added.
Bangladesh and Greece have a tradition to support each other in international organisations.
Greece is also a destination for Bangladeshi workers.
