The body was brought to the mosque around 4pm from the BNP chief’s Gulshan office after the mother bade bye to her son.

Thousands of BNP supporters took part in the Janaza and authorities stopped traffic on the streets in front of the national mosque's North and South gates.

The Janaza ended around 5:15pm. The body was kept there for the people to pay their respects.

The remains will be taken to Banani graveyard for burial.

Earlier, authorities had refused the family a burial at the military graveyard in Banani.

The Malaysian Airlines flight carrying Coco's remains arrived in Dhaka around 11:30pm.

The casket was then taken to the BNP chief's Gulshan office around 2:45pm. Khaleda has been living there since Jan 3.

bdnews24.com's Chief Political Correspondent Sumon Mahmud reported from the scene that Khaleda stood silently for a moment before breaking down in tears.

The coffin was kept there for an hour and Khaleda stayed there for around 35 minutes. She prayed for her son sitting in front of the coffin.

It was closed in front of her and a tearful Khaleda bade final farewell to her youngest son.

The ambulance carrying the body left for Baitul Mukarram around 2:45pm.
