Uchimong Marma, 18, was shot dead by miscreants at Lavadhang Para around 9:30am on Monday, Manikchharhi Police Station OC Shafikul Islam said .

Police recovered the body and took it into their custody when informed, he said.

UPDF spokesperson Niron Chakma blamed Santu Larma-led Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti (PCJSS) for the killing.

PCJSS Assistant Information Publicity Secretary Sajeeb Chakma denied that and blamed it on the UPDF's 'internal feud'.

UPDF came into being in protest against a peace treaty signed by the Hasina government and Santu Larma-led PCJSS in 1997.

Since then, the UPDF and PCJSS have fought a bitter turf war and many of both sides have died in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
