Seven die, eight injured in road crashes in four districts

Seven people have been killed and eight others injured in separate road accidents in four districts.

Two persons were killed and five others were injured in a collision between two buses at Dhaka's Kakrail on Sunday evening, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital Police Outpost Inspector Mozammel Haque said.

One of buses had overturned following the crash, leaving seven injured.

Two of the injured, Abdus Salam, 40, and Mosharraf Hossain Biltu, 30, were later declared dead by doctors after they were taken to the hospital, Haque added.

In Bogra, a woman and her son died on the spot when a covered van ran over them on Dhaka-Bogra Highway at Shajahanpur in the evening.

The mother 'Khuki', 28, was crossing road with her 2-year-old son 'Babla' when the accident took place, Shajahanpur Police Station OC Abdul Mannan said.

In Moulvibazar, the driver of a private car and a passenger died on the spot and three others injured when a bus rammed the vehicle in Mokambazar area.

The deceased were identified as driver 'Abdullah', 35, and Monayem Fahim, 22, son of businessman Abdul Kaiyum.

Kaiyum, his wife Shefali Begum and another unidentified person were injured in the accident.

Shefali was admitted to a private hospital while the two others were sent to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital.

Moulvibazar Model Police Station OC Abdus Salek said the bus was seized but the driver and his assistant had fled.

Earlier in the day, driver of a human hauler died after his vehicle was hit by a brick-laden vehicle in Magura.

Billal Hossain, 40, was run over when he fell on the street due to the impact of the collision at Vainar Mor around 11:30am Sunday, Magura Traffic Police Sergeant Farhad Hossain said.

Billal died at Magura Sadar Hospital in the afternoon, he said.

The killer vehicle was impounded but its driver fled, the police official added.
