High Commissioner Pankaj Saran opened the celebrations by unfurling India’s tricolour at the new chancery complex in Baridhara on Monday morning.

He also read out a message by the Indian president as more than 500 Indians joined the morning function.
Young children performed lively cultural events.
India became a Republic on this day three years after its independence from Britain.
This year New Delhi has invited for the first time an US President, Barack Obama, to be chief guest at the annual Republic Day parade.
