Arson on vehicles across Bangladesh have marked the BNP-led alliance’s ongoing blockade and shutdown.
DEPZ Fire fighters doused the fire on the ‘Keya Paribahan’ bus at Palashbari area, but it had already been badly damaged, said Ashulia Police OC Mostafa Kamal.
Strikers poured petrol on the bus after forcing the passengers out around 9pm Sunday, witnesses have said.
The attackers, who vandalised several other vehicles passing that area, was then seen escaping the site.
This incident may mark the beginning of a new tactic by pro-blockade elements.
Stung by public ire at loss of life in petrol bombings on transport, they are seemingly making an effort to avoid human casualties even as they continue disruptions to enforce the blockade.
