3 held for ‘planning violence’
Police have detained three persons including two student activists of Jamaat-e-Islami in two separate raids in Dhaka.

Islami Chhatra Shibir activists ‘Hasib’ and ‘Israfil', who were arrested, are students of Mirpur’s Bangla College, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Md Masudur Rahman on Sunday.
In another raid, police detained Ali Kaiser Pintu, general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal’s Mohammadpur unit, he said.
“Hasib and Israfil were nabbed from Lalmatia with a banner of Jamaat’s Mohammadpur unit around 9am.”
Police picked up Pintu from Mohammadpur’s Beribadh during a raid at noon.
“They were preparing to carry out violent action. We had the information, which is why they have been detained.”
The BNP-led 20-Party alliance was enforcing another 36-hour countrywide shutdown from Sunday amid its ongoing violent blockade campaign.
