The men -- Shakhawatul Kabir, Anwar Hossain, Rabiul Islam and Nazrul Islam -- were arrested from Jatrabarhi and Khilkhet early on Monday.

Police claim Kabir is the ISIS’s chief coordinator in Bangladesh.

A laptop and ISIS leaflets have been recovered from them.

They were shown arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with the Jatrabarhi police.

No bail plea was moved on the suspects’ behalf.

Detective Branch Inspector Md Abu Zafar said Kabir's brother-in-law Shamim and Baten's brother Sayem were ISIS members living in Pakistan.

The two had made Kabir the militant group's chief coordinator in Bangladesh.

According to the detectives, Kabir had been frequently travelling to India, Pakistan and other countries.

Last year, a video clip showed several suspected Bangladeshis taking oath to organise Muslims under ISIS chief Abu Bakr al Baghdadi.

Bangladesh intelligence had since focused on picking up traces of ISIS activities.
