Police handed over Pompa Rani, 20, to Border Guard Bangladesh on Monday.

She was turned over to the Indian border guards at the Darshana border.

A Kushtia court sentenced her to six months in prison for trespassing.

Rani, who hails from Nadia district's Shikarpur Kuthiparha, is a student of the Shikarpur Debnath College.

She said she had fallen in love with Amjad Ali of bordering Dharmadah village.

On June 7, they tied the knot after she had crossed over using a river route.

But acting on a tip off, Daulatpur police arrested her for trespassing.

Since then she had been lodged in the Kushtia jail.
