The child had fallen into a pipe several hundred feet deep in Dhaka's Shahjahanpur on Friday afternoon and died before he could be rescued.

The accused in the case are Abdus Salam, owner of the construction company responsible for setting the pipe, and Jahangir Alam, Railway senior sub-assistant engineer.

Shahjahanpur Police Sub-Inspector Masud Rana said Nasiruddin filed the case around Saturday midnight bringing charges of negligence.

Four-year old Jihad fell a few hundred feet down an abandoned deep tube-well on Friday afternoon at the Shahjahanpur Railway Colony.

Jahangir Alam, who was in charge of the project, was suspended that night following the incident, while the project contractor firm, SR House, which was installing a new deep tube-well at the site, was blacklisted.

After 23 hours of unyielding rescue efforts Jihad was brought up by the locals on Saturday evening in an apparently unconscious state. But later the doctors declared that the child had died several hours ago.
