Victory Day celebrated in Bangladesh missions abroad

Bangladesh missions in abroad have celebrated the 43rd anniversary of the Victory Day with due solemnity and great pomp.

The foreign ministry said on Saturday that hoisting national flag, playing national anthem, discussions, film shows, poster exhibitions, and cultural programmes were the highlights of the celebration.

Messages of the president, prime minister, foreign minister and junior foreign minister were also read out.

So far the ministry has received reports from the embassies in Bangkok, Seoul, Mexico city, Cairo, Amman, Paris, Japan, Washington DC, Kathmandu, Berlin, Jakarta, Muscat, Manila, Thimphu, Lisbon, London, Vienna, Rabat, Colombo, and Yangon.

It also received reports from the embassies in Manchester, Tripoli, Mumbai, Kunming, The Hague, Beijing, Hanoi, Istanbul, New Delhi, Dubai, Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, and Bangladesh Consulate in New York.

Large number of Bangladeshi expatriates and representatives of the host countries joined those celebrations.

They were served with traditional Bangladeshi food.

In the discussions they paid rich tribute to the Bangladesh’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and also to the martyrs, who had sacrificed their lives for the victory of their motherland.

Bangladesh won independence from Pakistan on Dec 16 in 1971 after nine-months of bloody war.
