President Abdul Hamid receives warm reception in New Delhi

Md Abdul Hamid , the first Bangladesh President to visit India in three decades, has received a warm welcome in Delhi.

The Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying him landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport around 12.45pm India time on Thursday.

The president was received by India's Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh at the airport.

Bangladesh High Commissioner in Delhi Syed Muazzem Ali and the Indian envoy in Dhaka Pankaj Saran were also present.

Abdul Hamid was taken to the Rashtrapati Bhavan in a motorcade. The president will stay there during his visit to New Delhi.

Earlier around 11am Bangladesh time, President Md Adbul Hamid left Dhaka.

His tour is in response to an invitation from Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.

Hamid will also visit Agra, Jaipur and Kolkata during his stay there.

He is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on Dec 23.
