The absence of a 'train protection mark' at the end of the track led to much damage, two enquiry reports say.

'Mohanagar Pravati' crashed into the passenger platform on the morning of Dec 10.

Departmental probe body head East Railways Divisional Transport Officer Firoz Iftekhar said they had got evidence that the driver was drowsy when the train was entering the station.

Two of those accused have confessed to negligence before the investigators, he said.

Punitive measures have been recommended against them.

The committee formed at the headquarters’ orders also accused the driver, said a committee member on condition of anonymity.
