Havilders Md Nasiruddin and Babul Hassan gave confessional statements in the courts of Narayanganj Magistrates Monwara Begum and Saiduzzaman Sharif respectively on Sunday.

With them, 16 members of RAB-11 and two others have so far admitted their involvement in the murders of Narayanganj Councillor Nazrul Islam, lawyer Chandan Sarkar and five others seven months back.

The RAB men include ex-Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad, then RAB-11 commander, former Maj Arif Hossain and former Lt Commander MM Rana.

They were removed from the elite police unit and later sent on forced retirement over their alleged involvement in the killing.

Hassan was the bodyguard of Arif Hossain at the time.

Narayanganj District Bar Association President Sakhawat Hossain told reporters on Sunday: “Babul Hassan is a key witness in this case. He was involved, along with Major Arif, in planning, killing of the seven and concealing their bodies.”

The seven people were abducted from Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road on Apr 27. Their bodies were found floating on the Shitalakhyya River several days later.

Nazrul Islam's father-in-law Shahidul Islam had claimed earlier that RAB took Tk 60 million from prime suspect Nur Hossain for the crime.

Hossain, the main accused in the case, is now detained in India.
