Indian High Commissioner Saran meets President Hamid

Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pankaj Sharan has met President Md Abdul Hamid before his New Delhi visit.

Saran on Thursday informed Hamid of his upcoming tour, the president's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said on Thursday.

The envoy said the people of India were eagerly waiting to welcome him.

Indian President Pranab Mukherjee invited his Bangladesh counterpart in May.

Hamid thanked Mukherjee for the invitation saying Bangladesh always attached highest priority to its relations with India.

He hoped the Indian parliament would ratify the Land Boundary Agreement soon.

Saran informed the president that the LBA bill had been tabled in the Rajya Sabha.

The envoy hoped President Hamid's visit would strengthen the friendly ties between the two neighbours, said Karim.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali had said the president would travel to India on Dec 18.
