"The data provided do not give the true picture of Bangladesh. We are not in agreement with the report,” said ACC Commissioner Shahabuddin Chuppu after the TI media conference.

Transparency International published the index covering 175 countries and regions on Wednesday.

Bangladesh has been ranked 145 with a score of 25 out of 100. Last year, it was at 123 out of 177 countries and region with a score of 27.
"This report is unacceptable in the light of the reality,” Chuppu told reporters when his reaction was sought.
"I have not seen the full report. I have only learnt about it from what they told the media. But I don’t think the full report will be acceptable either,” he added.
TI-Bangladesh Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman said corruption was becoming increasingly widespread and running deep roots in Bangladesh, and urged the government to take firm steps.
But Commissioner Chuppu seemed to disagree. “The ACC is far more active now than any time before. So, the level of corruption has also gone down,” he said.
