Jahangir confesses to burning 4 to death

Prime suspect Jahangir Hossain has confessed to his involvement in the burning of a woman and her three daughters to death in Tangail.

The court sent him to prison after recording his confessional statement for three and a half hours on Thursday.
Mirzapur Police Station ASI Shyamal Datta, investigating the case, said Jahangir was produced before the Tangail Chief Judicial Magistrate Shahadat Hossain’s court at around 4pm.
He deposed until 7:30pm
Police arrested Jahangir at his house at Sohagpur in Mirzapur Upazila on the night of Nov 22.
The house of expatriate Majibur Rahman went up in flames at Sohagpur in the early hours of Oct 7.
His wife Hasna Begum, 30, and three daughters -- 'Mariam', 18, 'Mili', 4, and 'Meem', 6, -- were burnt to death in the fire.
Begum's brother Md Mofazzal Hossain filed a case with the Mirzapur Police against 10 people naming Jahangir as the prime suspect.
Police arrested nine people in the case.
Of them, Ali Hossain, a rickshaw-puller, confessed that he was paid Tk 200 to fetch two containers of petrol, which he delivered at Jahangir's house.
