During a question and answer session at Parliament on Tuesday, AMA Muhith said Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit was constantly working to stop money being siphoned off to foreign countries.
“However this unit does not have information about the exact amount of money laundered,” he said.
Efforts were on to sign memorandums of understanding (MoU) with different countries to bring back the money, added the finance minister.
“Possibilities of getting information on laundered money will open up once these MoUs are signed.”
Pay Commission report in Dec
The new pay-scale for public servants will be implemented as soon as the report by the Pay and Services Commission was available.
“The report by the Pay and Services Commission will be submitted within Dec 15. It will be implemented as soon as possible,” Muhith said in Parliament.
Earlier on Sept 23, the minister had told reporters that the new pay scale would be effective from July next year.
The Pay and Services Commission, meant for reviewing public servants’ salaries, was formed in November last year.
Former Bangladesh Bank governor Farash Uddin headed the 17-strong commission.
