This is the first such Korean martial art centre in the entire northern Rajshahi region.

KOICA says they have set up the centre as the technique is gaining popularity in Bangladesh. It says it is just the right time to teach the “most systematic method”, which is more than just physical fighting skills.

Taekwondo is also an official game in the Olympics.

KOICA also dispatched a Korean instructor, Kim Ill-Woong, for the centre.

It is equipped with “quality Taekwondo supplies, locker rooms, training office, 9 class rooms and 11 washrooms required for the safety and comfort of the students learning Taekwondo”.

KOICA resident representative Kim Bok-Hee, and the university vice-chancellor Mohammad Mizanuddin inaugurated the centre on Sunday.
