Jahangir Hossain was nabbed from his house at South Sohagpur village in the Upazila's Gorhai Union around 8:30pm Saturday, Mirzapur Police Station OC Abdur Rashid said.
The house of one expatriate Majibur Rahman at Sohagparha village went up in flames on the night of Oct 7.
His wife Hasna Begum, 30, and three daughters - Monira Aktar Mariam, 14, Meem Aktar, 10, and Molly Aktar, 7, - were burnt to death in their sleep.
Since then, police had been suspecting that Jahangir planned the arson.
Jahangir, who is the son of victims’ neighbour Baharuddin, had been proposing to marry Majib's eldest daughter Mariam for a while.
Police suspect Jahangir had set the house on fire after the marriage proposal was rejected.
Police confirmed that they were killed after recovering two containers of petrol from the scene.
Jahangir and his family were on the run since then.
However, after the incident police had arrested nine people, including Jahangir's brother, for their suspected involvement in the murders.
One of them, rickshaw-puller Ali Hossain who delivered the petrol containers already confessed his involvement in court.
He had said that he was paid Tk 200 for bringing the containers and delivering them to Jahangir's house.
