"A moderate intensity quake measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale with epicentre in the Mizoram-Myanmar border shook India’s north-eastern states and neighbouring Bangladesh and Myanmar,” said Sushanta Datta, who is in additional charge of the disaster cell in Agartala adding: “It was followed by two low intensity tremors both measuring 4.3 on the Richter Scale."

However, there are no reports of casualties or damage to property.

The first quake occurred at 6.14 p.m. Thursday and the second at 10.45 p.m. The third tremor was felt at 4.15am Friday.
Disaster management control rooms of Tripura and Mizoram governments said there was no report of casualties or damage to property.

The tremors were also felt in southern Assam, bordering regions of Bangladesh and Myanmar.

India's north-eastern region is considered the sixth major earthquake-prone belt (zone five) in the world.
