The university has asked male students to vacate their dormitories by 4pm Thursday and female students by 9am Friday.
Meanwhile, at Thursday's senate meeting, the university has formed a three-strong committee, headed by math department's Prof Ilias Uddin Biswas, to investigate the clash.
The SUST administration has decided to file a case over the clash as per the proctorial body's recommendation.

Two groups of the SUST unit of the Awami League's student affiliate fought a two-hour turf war on the campus that sparked around 11am.
According to the students, followers of SUST BCL unit General Secretary Imran Khan, who had been absent from the campus for a long time, took out a march and entered the university around 11am, vandalising the library, academic building, and the Shah Paran Hall.
The clash broke out when followers of Vice President Anjan Roy reached the spot.
Both factions fired at each other and exploded handmade bombs, leaving at least 20 injured, some with gunshot wounds.
