BCL is the student affiliate of the ruling Awami League.
A BCL faction vandalised the SUST library, academic building, and the Shah Paran Hall around 11am on Thursday. The clash broke out when members of another faction of the students’ organisation reached the spot.
Both factions fired at each other and exploded handmade bombs, leaving at least 20 injured, some with gunshot wounds.

The dead has been identified as 'Suman', a student of the Sylhet International University, a private institution.

He succumbed to gunshot wounds at Sylhet's Osmani Medical College and Hospital.

"Suman was brought with bullet injuries. He died while being taken to the operation theatre," the hospital's emergency wing doctor Omar Faruk told bdnews24.com.

"Additional police forces have been deployed on the campus after the clash. We are trying to control the situation," Jalalabad Police Station OC Aktar Hossain told bdnews24.com.
