Abed wins Trust Women Award

BRAC founder Fazle Hasan Abed has won the Trust Women Award for his innovative approach to protect women’s rights through the NGO.

Queen Noor Al-Hussein of Jordan presented the Hero Award to Abed at a ceremony held at the Trust Women Conference in London on Tuesday evening.
Abed is the first male recipient of the award.
BRAC in a media statement said BRAC UK Chair of Trustees Simone Sultana received the award on behalf of Abed.
It added, “The Trust Women Awards are now globally recognised for identifying and rewarding exceptional individuals at the forefront of women’s rights.”
The 13-member Advisory Board of Trust Women picked Abed and African multimedia journalist Chika Oduah from among 160 nominees from over 45 countries for the awards.
Earlier in 2008, the founder of one of world’s largest NGOs got ‘David Rockefeller Bridging Leadership Award’ in recognition to his contribution to poverty reduction and social sector.
