They have not been able to locate the IP address either.
A group calling itself Ansar al Islam Bangladesh-2 opened the Facebook page and claimed responsibility around 8pm, five hours after the killing.
CID chief Mokhlesur Rahman told bdnews24.com, “We don’t have the technology to detect the IP that was used to open the Facebook account.”
He said he was unaware of any other organisation possessing it. But he added the CID would soon acquire such technology.
RAB Additional Director General Ziaul Ahsan avoided a direct answer. He said RAB was trying to find out the IP used for opening the page.
Another RAB officer, however, told bdnews24.com on condition of anonymity that primary investigations had revealed that the Facebook page opened in the name of Ansar al Islam Bangladesh-2 was ‘fake’.
The Joint Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Monirul Islam, said on Sunday a group called the Ansarullah Bangla Team had claimed responsibility for the murder earlier of blogger Ahmed Rajib Haider. Police were investigating whether Ansar al Islam Bangladesh-2 was its hit squad.
Police have not been able to trace any group by that name in their preliminary investigation, he said.
Earlier, too, police had not been able to crack the mystery behind a Facebook page in the name of Ansarullah Bangla Team.
