Court orders police custody for ex-AL MP Tipu Sultan's son

A Dhaka court has remanded former Awami League MP Tipu Sultan's son Humayun Sultan to three days’ of police custody.

He was arrested on Thursday for the suspected murder of his wife.

Doctors said Humayun’s wife Shamarukh Mahjabin Shyama, 24, was brought dead to the Central Hospital Thursday evening from Tipu’s Dhanmondi residence.
Tipu’s family had claimed that she committed suicide.
But Shama's friends and relatives suspected that she had been murdered.
A murder case lodged by her father accuses Humayn Sultan, his father, and mother Dr Jesmin Ara Begum. Humayun, was arrested in the wee hours of Friday.
Police produced him before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Anwar Sadat on Sunday and sought a 10-day remand for questioning him.
No bail plea was filed on behalf of Sultan, said police's Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Crime Information and Prosecution wing Md Anisur Rahman.
