The announcement was made Saturday hours after miscreants hacked to death sociology teacher AKM Shafiul Islam near the campus.

Rajshahi University Teachers' Association (RUTA) General Secretary Pranab Kumar Pandey said they would refrain from academic activities on Sunday.

He said they would decide on further course of actions during their Sunday's meeting.
Islam was attacked in the afternoon when he was returning home from the university.
The motive behind the assault remains unclear and police say they are trying to nab the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, leftist student front 'Pragatishil Chhatra Jote' took out a procession on the campus protesting the killing.
Around evening, a group of agitated students blocked the Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway and vandalised several three-wheelers.
Vehicular movements on the key roads have since been disrupted.
