Badiul Alam, 30, from Raojan in Chittagong, was carrying the gold - 45 bars - when he got down from a flight at around 8:20pm.
Customs Assistant Commissioner Shahadat Jamil told bdnews24.com they conducted search as Alam’s movement was ‘suspicious’.
The gold was found inside his shoes and in the waist.
Customs officials estimate the value of the gold will be Tk 22.5 million.
They said Alam’s passport suggested he travelled to and from Dubai twice or thrice a month.
