Mufti Zubair Abdullah was detained from a house in the area early on Tuesday, said Maj Mohiuddin of RAB-3.
“We found jihadi books, photos of militant training and various kinds of identification documents in his possession.”
The RAB official refused more details, saying they will be provided later on.
Last week, Detective Branch arrested four HuJI leaders and activists with powerful bombs and raw materials for explosives after raids at Narayanganj, Dhaka’s Uttara and Tikatuli.
They were Md Rafik Ahmed aka ‘Sajid’, 38, Md Omar aka ‘Faizul’ aka ‘Rabi’, 25, Md Nadim Ahmed aka ‘Sumon’, 30, and Md Salauddin Ahmed, 29.
The officials said that they were trying to gather many banned militant outfits under a single banner of ‘Bangladesh Jihadi Group’.
The men were sent to six days of police questioning on Sunday.
