Sirajganj Detective OC Nasir Uddin said police have detained three men in connection with the abduction.

The trader was rescued around 9:30pm Monday after raiding a house in Bagatipara Upazila. Golam Mostofa, 48, was found tied up, said OC Nasir.

The detainees are Enamul Haque, 40, Hafizul Islam, 20, and Faisal Ahammed, 34.

Police also held up three others for interrogation.

"Their involvement in the case is being verified," said the police official. But he did not reveal their identities.

The trader Golam Mostofa was abducted on his way to the market on October 20 last. Two days later the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Tk 50 million over phone from his family.

Detective Police swung into action after receiving the complaints and nabbed the abductors after laying a trap.

They tried to flee after noticing police presence in Maheshrohali area, where they went to pick up Tk 10 million on Monday evening. Police fired shots in which Faisal was injured. He and his partner Hafizul were then detained.

Later based on their information Mostofa was found at Enamul's house.

The injured miscreants, Faisal and Mostofa have been admitted to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital for treatment.
