Metropolitan Magistrate Nuru Miah on Saturday afternoon sent the four to police remand for questioning following a remand plea from police, said Court Police's Sub-Inspector Rakib Uddin.

The four HuJi members are - Md Rafiq Ahmed aka 'Sajid', 34, Md Omar aka ‘Faizul’ aka ‘Robi’, 25, Md Nadim Ahmed aka ‘Sumon’, 30, and Md Salauddin Ahmed, 29.

They were arrested from Dhaka's Uttara, Tikatuli areas and Narayanganj on Thursday and Friday night, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Masudur Rahman said earlier.

Powerful explosives, detonators and bomb making materials were found on them.

Two cases, one under the Anti Terrorism Act and the other under the Explosives Act, were lodged at the Wari Police Station.

Sub-Inspector of police’s Detective Branch Raisul Islam had sought 10-day remand for interrogating them, but the court granted six days in two cases after the hearing.

Earlier in the day, DMP Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam at a press briefing said that HuJI was conspiring to cause violence in Dhaka, Rajshahi and Chittagong.

They also planned to attack Abdul Latif Siddique, who was recently dropped from the cabinet and expelled from the ruling Awami League for his remarks against Hajj.

Other secular politicians were also on their hit-list besides some important government offices and public structures, the police official said.

The officials had also said that they were trying to unite many banned militant outfits under a single banner of ‘Bangladesh Jihadi Group’.
