Investigators file finds on Natore bus crash

The committee investigating Monday’s bus crash in Natore has submitted report a day before the deadline.

Natore Additional District Magistrate Mohammad Ali, who oversaw the enquiry, handed in the report to the district deputy commissioner Wednesday night.

The district administration had formed the three-member committee on Monday which was to report by Thursday its finds on the mishap in which two buses collided in Barhaigram leaving at least 34 dead.

An assistant superintendent of police and an assistant director at Bangladesh Road Transport Authority were also on the committee.

Deputy Commissioner Moshiur Rahman declined to share the findings.

The report will be sent to Dhaka and the road transport minister might publish the full report, he added.

An official who had access to the report said on condition of anonymity that that the accident had been blamed on overtaking.

Earlier in the day, minister Obaidul Quader said at a function in Dhaka that driver’s fault might have caused the crash.

Witnesses said the accident happened when an Othoi Paribahan bus collided with a Keya Paribahan bus that was overtaking a truck at Rejir Morh.
