On Thursday, a unique photo exhibition organised by bdnews24.com to celebrate its eighth anniversary brought alive the story of South Asia's youngest nation with unusual poignance at the Radius Art Gallery housed at the Bay's Galleria at Dhaka's Gulshan.

From the struggle for power to the struggle for life to one for sheer existence -- the pictures said it all.

And the exhibition inaugurated by Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali drove home bdnews24.com's preference for treading an alternative path in the media.

"The exhibition is to showcase the kind of photo-journalism we have encouraged in the last eight years," said bdnews24.com's Editor-in-Chief Toufique Imrose Khalidi. "This exhibition provides us with a sneak preview at our contemporary history."

Former foreign minister Dipu Moni, world famous artist Monirul Islam, poet Mohammed Nurul Huda, retired diplomat Mohiuddin Ahmed and a great friend of Bangladesh Julian Francis were present at the exhibition.

Senior editor Amanullah Kabir and veteran journalist Afsan Chowdhury were also present with Toufique Khalidi.

Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali also unveiled the cover of bdnews24.com's latest special magazine 'Anandapath'.

Its 550 pages contain 16 short stories, 11 translated stories, four interviews and two special essays from both Bengals.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has written about experience in jail in 'Anandapath'.

Her friend the late journalist Baby Maudud has written about the day fifty years ago when she first met Hasina.

National Professor AF Salahuddin Ahmed was to inaugurate the exhibition until his sudden demise forced a change of plans.

Pictures about this great historian were put together in a 'AF Salahuddin Ahmed corner".

The exhibition will be open to all from 10am to 8pm until Oct 27.
The special photo website of bdnews24.com – click.bdnews24.com – was also inaugurated by Bangladesh's first woman photo-journalist Saida Khanam and renowned photographer Anwar Hossain.
Khanam is late professor Ahmed's sister-in-law, his wife's youngest sister.
