Another Bangladeshi dies in Saudi Arabia road crash

Hours after five Bangladeshis were killed in a road crash at Makkah in Saudi Arabia, another has died in a mishap at Rafia in the kingdom.

Family said Masud Rana was injured when the goods-laden truck he was driving from Riyadh to Dammam collided with a covered van at around 10pm on Wednesday.

He died at a hospital while undergoing treatment.

Rana, 40, was from Mohadebpur under Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila.

His father Lutfur Rahman said his two other sons -- Riyadh Hossain and Jewel Rana, who also live in Saudi Arabia, rushed to the spot and took Rana to the hospital with the help of locals.

He said doctors announced Rana’s death around midnight.

Rana was the eldest among six brothers and one sister.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, five Bangladeshis were killed and two others injured in a road crash at Makkah. All the deceased hailed from Cox’s Bazar district.

Rana, father of two daughters – Lutfa, 6, and Arshi, 2 – had been living in Saudi Arabia for the last 20 years.

His family has sought government support to bring his body home.
