This will be her first visit to Bangladesh after taking charge as the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for International Development, DFID, on Sept 5, 2012.
A foreign ministry official says her three-day visit is the follow-up to the girls’ summit in London hosted in July.
Ending violence against women and girls is an area of her responsibilities.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined the July summit and lent her support to the global fight to eliminate child as well as forced marriages.
Featherstone’s meetings with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and junior foreign minister M Shahriar Alam have been finalised, among others.
She is also expected to meet the Prime Minister, says an official.
During her stay, she will visit the outskirts of Dhaka to see renewable energy projects funded by the British government.
UK is one of the largest development partners of Bangladesh.
Apart from her other engagements, Featherstone will also visit a slum in Mirpur to see the DFID’s poverty-reduction projects.
She will meet the press on Tuesday afternoon and will leave Dhaka on Wednesday morning.
