Netrokona's Additional Sessions Judges Court, however, acquitted three others in the case on Monday.
State counsel Saiful Alam Pradip said the convicts – Ruhul Amin alias Milon, 29, of Khaliyajuri Upazila, and Rafiqul Islam alias Mokhles, 22, of Mohonganj Upazila – have also been fined Tk 50,000 each.
They would have to serve five more years of rigorous imprisonment if they fail to pay the fine, he added.
According to case details, the convicts killed freedom fighter Siddiqur Rahman on Oct 9, 2003 in Mohonganj Upazila over a business dispute. Rahman and convict Mokhles were partners in fisheries trade.
His body was dumped in the local Satma Dhalai canal. Fishermen recovered the body the following day.
The victim's brother filed a case over the murder on the same day and police pressed charges against the convicts on May 31, 2004.
