The gold bars weighing 7.5 kg were found with one Abdul Latif, who landed in a flight from Dubai.
Customs Deputy Director Md Mustafizur Rahman told bdnews24.com: "Latif was searched after landing at Dhaka from Dubai on Saturday morning. 64 gold bars were found in a cigarette carton in his luggage."
Rahman said legal proceedings will be initiated against Latif.
Bangladesh appears to be increasingly becoming a conduit from smuggling in contraband gold to India, where demand is rising after imposition of government controls on imports to save foreign exchange.
