Kabir Hossain of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which brought the charges against the former junior minister for Housing and Public Works, said the magistrate’s court does not have jurisdiction to extend bail in its case.
But the judge granted Khan’s plea and scheduled the next hearing on Dec 9.
The ACC filed cases against Khan, another junior minister and an MP at Ramna Police Station on Aug 21.
He is accused of not reporting more than Tk 7.5 million in his wealth statement. Following that, the former MP surrendered to the lower court on Aug 24 and sought bail.
He was granted interim bail until Oct 13.
Khan lost his Dhaka-1 constituency to Jatiya Party Presidium member Salma Islam in the Jan 5 polls.
