Mobile court judge and Bagerhat executive magistrate Sheikh Mahiuddin gave the order on Monday.
Md Bellal Howlader, 34, was ordered to prison for 15 days and fined Tk 20,000 for trying to kill a sick cow for meat.
Failure to pay the fine would add 15 days more to his sentence.
Abdus Salam Khan, 35, was fined Tk 50,000. He will have to spend one month in prison if he cannot pay the sum.
Both men hail from Basabati of Bagerhat.
Judge Mahiuddin said the raid at 5am followed information that meat from a sick cow and buffalo were being sold at the town’s main market.
“They have both confessed and were punished under Section 44 of the Consumer-Right Protection Act.”
The sick cow was handed over to the custody of city corporation official Md Rokonuddin .
The seized buffalo meat, the court said, can be sold to consumers once they are given the correct information.
