At least 10 passengers were injured when they tried to get off the train in panic after it derailed in the outer signal zone around 11am Sunday.

But railway traffic was not affected as there are two tracks for the Dhaka-Chittagong-Sylhet route in that area, said Brahmanbaria Station Assistant Master Moinul Hossain.

The last three carriages of the train jumped the tracks while approaching the outer signal area, he said.

The rail authorities could not provide why the train jumped tracks. A relief train has started from Akhaura at 11:45am to remove the derailed carriages from the track.
