Stealing a newborn
A woman has been arrested for trying to steal a newborn baby from the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), says police.

The woman was an aunt of the baby.
DMCH outpost in-charge Mozzamel Haque said that Sumi Akhtar, 19, is the sister of the baby's mother Asma Akhtar.
Sumi was stopped and then nabbed by Ansar guards when she was trying to leave the DMCH premises with the newborn.
Haque said Sumi has confessed that she was planning to sell the newborn child to a 'buyer' in Tongi who had agreed to pay Tk 25,000 for the baby.
Legal action would be taken against Sumi, he said, adding he was waiting for more details about the plans to sell the baby.
