Another killer of Ahsanullah Master arrested

Police have arrested a fugitive condemned to death for the murder of former Gazipur MP and Awami League leader Ahsanullah Master in Noakhali's Sonaimurhi Upazila.

Akram Hossain Bhulu, 45, son of Goni Mia of Tongi's Gopalpur, was nabbed from the residence of his in-law’s at the Upazila's Kotbaria village around 10pm on Tuesday, Sonaimurhi Police Station Shawkat Hossain told bdnews24.com.

He was handed over to Tongi police, Hossain said.

Tongi Police Station OC Qazi Ismail Hossain said Akram was being brought to Tongi with the assistance from Sonaimurhi police.
Ahsanullah Master,a popular politician of Tongi, was gunned down on May 7, 2004 while addressing a Swecchasebak League conference at the Noagaon MA Majid Mia High School ground, near his residence.
His younger brother Matiur Rahman had lodged the murder case with Tongi police.
A Speedy Trial Tribunal on Apr 16, 2005, handed down death penalty to 22 people, including main accused BNP leader Nurul Islam Sarkar, and life term in jail to six others in the sensational case.
Of them, 18 including Sarkar are in prison currently. One of them died in jail in June while nine more convicts are absconding.
