President, PM greet people on Eid

President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have greeted the people in Bangladesh and Muslims across the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

Bangladesh will celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on Monday.

In separate messages issued on Sunday, they both urged all to follow the teachings and ideals of the Eid to build a discrimination-free society maintaining communal harmony.

President Hamid in his message hoped the Eid would bring peace, progress and welfare to all and strengthen further the unity, solidarity and brotherhood of the Muslims.

He said, "Eid-ul-Azha's spirit of sacrifice is a unique example of showing respect and love to almighty Allah."

"The inner message of Eid-ul-Azha is showing respect, tolerance and love to each other," the president added.
In her message, Prime Minister Hasina said, "Through the festival, the capable Muslims ensure equality for all and practise compassion by distributing meat of their sacrificial animals among relatives and neighbours."
She also called upon the people to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh free from discrimination by participating in welfare-based activities.
