Shibir activists suspended for bomb attack on CU bus

Chittagong University has temporarily expelled five members of Islami Chhatra Shibir for attacking a teachers’ bus with hand bombs.

The decision was taken at the university’s Syndicate meeting held on Wednesday noon, said Syndicate member and assistant professor of Philosophy Masum Ahmed.

Fourteen including 11 teachers were injured at Chararkul, Hathazari on Aug 4 when Shibir activists hurled hand bombs at the bus that was heading for the campus.

Ahmed said the meeting also decided to issue a show cause notice asking why the Shibir members should not be permanently expelled from the university.

Thpse suspended were second year mathematics student Md Abdul Halim, fourth year students of Islamic Studies Md Amin Uddin and Ibrahim Khalil and third year students of the same subject Touhidul Islam and Md Yunus.
