PSC publishes syllabus for new BCS format

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has published a syllabus for the new format of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) preliminary examinations.

The new syllabus was made public on PSC’s website on Tuesday.

From now on, the BCS preliminary tests will be two-hour-long, 200-mark MCQ exams.

Pass marks for the viva-voce have been raised by 10 percent to 50 percent but the marks needed to clear the written tests have remained unchanged at 50 percent.

As per the new system, a score below 30 percent in a written test will be considered a zero score.

Price of the BCS application form has been increased by Tk 500 to Tk 700.
Earlier, the preliminary tests used to be one-hour-long, 100-mark MCQ exams.
The PSC on Sept 23 published the circular for the 35th BCS examinations to recruit 1,803 class-first officers and teachers.
Through the exams, 455 officers will be recruited for general cadres. Of them 300 will be recruited for administration and 50 for police cadres.
Another 484 will be picked for professional and technical cadres, 829 for education cadre and 35 for government teachers training colleges.
The PSC has said the 35th BCS preliminary tests will take place in December.
