Manikganj CNG station blast death toll rises

Four more victims of the CNG filling station explosion in Manikganj succumbed to their burn injuries on Tuesday, taking the death toll to five.

One died immediately on Monday when a cylinder exploded at a filling station on the Dhaka-Aricha highway at Shibalaya Upazila.

At least ten others were injured in the blast. Of them, five were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

DMCH burn unit's resident surgeon Partha Shankar Pal said that three of them died Tuesday morning.
They are BRTC bus driver Noor Islam Lebu, 35, autorickshaw driver Shamim Uddin Pakhi, 35 and filling station employee Delwar Hossain, 42.

Another victim, Masum Uddin, 40, who was the manager of the filling station died around 2.15 pm, said the DMCH doctor.

One other injured is in critical condition as he has suffered more than 80 percent burns, added Pal.

The explosion at the 'Rumi Filling Station' around 4.30 pm Monday had killed one Helal Uddin, 45, looking to tank up his vehicle, on the spot, said Shibalaya Police Station OC Md Rakibuzzaman.
