He has been asked to be present at the Secretariat at 2:30pm on Monday, said Abul Kashem Mohiuddin, an investigator.

The committee was formed on May 7 on the High Court orders. It has been tasked to find if the law enforcers were involved in the murders in any way or whether they neglected to find the abductees alive.

Mohiuddin on Sunday told bdnews24.com that the RAB chief would be questioned at the office of Public Administration Additional Secretary Shahjahan Ali, who is leading the inquiry.

The probe team earlier had questioned RAB Additional Director General Col Ziaul Ahsan over the murders.

Seven including Narayanganj City Councillor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar were abducted on Apr 27. Their bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya River a few days later.

Former Lt Col Tarek Sayeed, then the commander of RAB-11, was removed along with former Maj Arif Hossain and former Lt Commander MM Rana even before the bodies were found.

Soon they were sent packing from their units and were arrested by police.

They have all provided confessional testimonies before a Narayanganj court.

Nazrul Islam’s family had accused the elite force's members of taking Tk 60 million for carrying out the abductions and murders.
