The elite force caught two traffickers during the late night raid at Bahaddar Pukur Par area on Friday.

Humayun Kabir, 27, and Taslim Uddin Prakash Emran, 28 – have long been involved in the racket, RAB-7 Assistant Director ASP Md Soheil Mahmud told bdnews24.com.

“They had gathered the men seeking to enter Malaysia illegally. The two were planning to take them over the seas via Cox’s Bazar and Teknaf.”

RAB has handed over the two traffickers to the Changaon Police, said the station’s OC Abdur Rouf.

Humayun hailed from Cox’s Bazar Ramu but lived in ‘Hotel Al Shakera’ at Bahaddarhat, an area where his partner Taslim, originally from Bogra, also lived.

The rescued men on the other hand hail from Sirajganj, Jessore and Narshingdi.

Traffickers often lure the poor to undertake dangerous voyages across the Bay of Bengal in leaky boats with the promise that they will get good jobs in Malayasia.
