Speaking to reporters on Saturday in Narayanganj, Hassan Mahmood Khandker said the progress of the investigation had been "satisfactory".

Seven men, including former Narayanganj City councillor Nur Hossain, were abducted on Apr 27. Their bloated bodies were found floating in the Shitalakhyya River after several days.

Hossain's family has accused elite police unit RAB of taking Tk 60 million from prime accused Nur Hossain for carrying out the crime.

Several former RAB-11 officials, including its ex-commander Tarek Sayeed Mohamad, have reportedly confessed to their crimes in the court.

Nur Hossain was arrested by West Bengal police in June.

IGP Khandker said, "Legal steps have been taken to ensure that Nur Hossain is brought back to the country to face trial as soon as possible."
